Rock Hill could get nearly 400 new homes and apartments. Here’s where

Developers and property owners have plans for nearly 400 new homes and apartments in Rock Hill, many of them for senior citizens.

The Rock Hill Planning Commission saw several proposals Tuesday. Some were plat approvals that the commission can finalize on its own. Others were rezoning questions, where the commission makes a recommendation to Rock Hill City Council for final approval.

Here’s a look at what developers proposed:

• Pennsylvania-based ACTS Retirement-Life Communities applied to expand Park Pointe Village. A second phase of the 3025 Chesbrough Blvd. site would add 229 senior care apartments and cottages on 109 acres. It includes 41 duplex cottages, a 3-story independent living building with 51 units and a clubhouse or amenity center. Four more apartment buildings with 96 units would be built last.
• Charlotte-based CH Acquisitions and Laurel Creek Land Bank applied to rezone nearly 32 acres on the southeast corner of Laurel Creek Drive and Twin Lakes Road. The wooded site would become 67 age-restricted homes for seniors. The site is surrounded by the Laurel Creek, Devonshire and Augusta Place neighborhoods.
• Engineering firm Foresite Group applied to rezone 24 acres at 5105 Old York Road, near the Hardy Pond neighborhood. The rezoning would allow for 58 new homes. The intent is for the new construction to be a continuation of the Hardy Pond subdivision.
• Builder True Homes submitted a plat to build a 27-home extension of Colvin Park in south Rock Hill. The nearly 14-acre property is between the 281-home Roddey Park and the 226-lot Colvin Park development. That initial Colvin Park plan is building the first of five phases now. The 216-apartment Edgewood Place project borders the property too.
• Oakdale Baptist Church applied to subdivide part of its property with baseball fields on it to allow for a dozen new homes. The Timber Lane subdivision would have access from 172 Timber Lane.
