Latest Rock Hill region projects: Huge logistics site, more townhomes and a school

It’s been a busy few weeks for new development plans in the Rock Hill region. They don’t appear to be letting up, either.

Between Novant Health announcing plans at the former Carolina Panthers site in Rock Hill, a Rock Hill record property sale at more than $100 million, Carowinds announcing a world-record water ride and a Dubai energy company buying a York mill, there’s plenty of new business ahead.

Other projects include a massive logistics center, a charter school, new homes and a church. Here’s a look at five projects that are next in line for the region:

  • A Maryland-based real estate company that owns 907 Caterpillar Dr. in Rock Hill applied to build more than 900,000 square feet of industrial space in Rock Hill. The CLT South Logistics Center would sit on nearly 118 acres. It would have three buildings, ranging from 234,000 to 435,000 square feet. They’re speculative buildings, meaning no tenant has been determined.
  • The York County Planning Commission approved a waiver Monday to allow new townhomes on Coltharp Road in Fort Mill. The Wedgewood project would add 57 townhomes on more than 10 acres at 1876 Coltharp Road, north of Pleasant Road. Lennar Carolinas is the homebuilder.
  • The York County Planning Commission approved a land use waiver Monday that will allow a restaurant and gas station plan in Fort Mill to move forward. Maryland-based Dash In wants to build at 2389 Hwy. 160 West, at its Dam Road intersection. Dash In is a sit-down restaurant that serves breakfast, burgers, pizza and sandwiches at more than 60 locations, mainly in the Northeast. There’s also a gas station and car wash portion of the plan. Most of the more than 6,900 square feet of new construction in Fort Mill would be the convenience store and restaurant.
  • The owners of 11632 Harrisburg Road in Indian Land applied to build a charter school on nearly 33 acres there. Bridge Point Charter School would go up across from Gant Road in the Lancaster County panhandle. The tuition-free K-8 school is expected to open next year.
  • The owner of 5 acres at 1788 S. Paraham Road in Lake Wylie applied to split the property to allow a new commercial building. It would be on a more than 1-acre site at the intersection of Paraham Road and Charlotte Highway. No tenants have been named for the retail site.
