The Come-See-Me Festival in Rock Hill is the latest postponement due to coronavirus.
Rock Hill’s annual launch into spring is postponed.
A notice on the Come-See-Me-Festival website states the event won’t be held April 16-25. The postponement comes in response to the threat of COVID-19, coronavirus, and public health recommendation against large gatherings of people.
“We, as a community, nation and world continue to assess and implement changes needed to combat the COVID-19 Coronavirus,” reads the notice from event board president Jennifer Childers. “Taking into careful consideration the guidelines of the CDC and DHEC, the Board of Governors of the Come-See-Me Festival has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the 2020 Come-See-Me Festival.”
According to the release, efforts will continue toward holding some form of the event later in 2020. A decision will be made and communicated in coming weeks.
Come-See-Me has a history in Rock Hill dating back more than 50 years. There were almost 80 events and activities planned for the April event, according to the website.
Come-See-Me is the latest among many postponements or cancellations involving large events. Fort Mill already canceled its South Carolina Strawberry Festival, held each year the first weekend in May.
Businesses, public facilities and more have closed as health officials urge social distancing, additional hand washing and other methods to prevent the spread of virus.
