Fire at Rock Hill home; firefighters rescue 2 dogs, another dog died, 4th missing
A dog died in a house fire in Rock Hill, officials said.
Two other dogs were rescued by firefighters in the blaze in a home in the 700 block of Harrell Street, said Mark Simmons, Rock Hill Fire Department deputy chief.
The area of the fire is near Eden Terrace and Mount Gallant Road on the north side of the city.
The fire damaged the home a car in the carport, Simmons said. The occupant was not hurt but is displaced because of the extensive damage, Simmons said.
The fire started around 9 p.m., according to emergency officials. Six fire department crews responded to the incident, Simmons said.
No other nearby homes reported damage, Simmons said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A fourth dog that belonged to the homeowner remains missing, according to the people who live in the house. It is a full-grown brown female lab mix named Cocoa, and weighs around 65 pounds. The dog has a microchip that identifies it and her owner.
