Daycare, paint, event rental, a church. Here’s what could come to Rock Hill next.
A church, event rental business, daycare and painting company could be the next moves and additions to Rock Hill.
Plans for each come up Feb. 18 when the city zoning board of appeals meets. Each of the plans needs a special exception to allow the requested use. The applications for those exceptions show what will come if the zoning board approves them.
Here are details on what new or relocated businesses might bring:
▪ One plan involves a new childcare site between the Home Depot and existing Southcross Corporate Center sites. Cooper Road Properties applied applied for the planned construction at 2784 Faith Boulevard. The site is more than four acres at the intersection of Faith and Southcross boulevards.
The applicant wants to put two buildings on the undeveloped site. One would have what’s listed as a preschool or daycare use, the other a paint contractor. Submitted sketches show access points off both boulevards. The daycare site would be about three acres. The paint site would be about 10,000 square feet, a little smaller than the daycare.
▪ Ribald Farms applied for an exception to use 903 W. Main St. for an indoor retail use allowing an event rental business. The company does most of its business online, according to the application, with deliveries well outpacing showroom traffic. The plan involves about 1,000 square feet of retail floor space and 4,000 square feet for storage and maintenance of rental items. A smaller building on the property also would be used for storage.
The site sits at the corner of West Main and McFadden streets. Surrounding sites include a plant nursery, auto repair and barber shops a church and a recently approved screen printing and embroidery shop.
▪ New Covenant Assembly Church of God in Christ wants to build a church at 860 Carolina Ave., across from Rich Street. The site is across Carolina Avenue from the existing church location. The new site would be almost 2,200 square feet and seat about 80 people.
There are mainly homes in the area, though also some rentals, another church and a small self-storage site. The site for the new church had an industrial building on it in the 1960s. It later was used as a laundromat and cabinet shop.
