Here are the state’s biggest delinquent taxpayers. A York County biz tops the list.

South Carolina Department of Revenue

The top delinquent taxpayer among businesses in South Carolina comes from York County, and it isn’t alone.

On Tuesday the South Carolina Department of Revenue began a new online listing of top individual and business delinquent taxpayers. The online listing replaces a Debtors’ Corner that listed similar information annually. The online listing will update quarterly.

All listed individuals and businesses is in tax lien status, making the debt public information.

“While the vast majority of taxpayers are compliant with our tax laws, this is aimed at the small percentage who are not,” SCDOR Director Hartley Powell said in a statement. “We are committed to taking action against taxpayers who knowingly avoid paying these debts, so we can protect the taxpayers who do comply.”

The list doesn’t include debtors who filed for bankruptcy protection or made payment arrangements with the revenue department. Still, listed individuals and businesses owe $119 million in taxes ranging from $94,000 to almost $2.8 million.

The top listed business is Ellis Enterprises of NC LLC in York. The business at 6491 Charlotte Hwy. owes more than $2.75 million, per the online listing.

Serenity Palliative & Hospice Care Inc., The Silver Dollar Inc. and Carolina Bistro LLC in Rock Hill made the list as did Georgias Families in Transition LLC in Chester, Intelichart LLC in Indian Land, Plan B Group LLC in Tega Cay, Boat Sales of Lake Wylie Inc. in Lake Wylie, Eagle Building Center in Clover and Cassiopeia Ltd. in Fort Mill.

The largest individual debt on the list from the tri-county area is a more than $355,000 listing from Chester. In all, eight area individuals owe more than $1.3 million. Seven of them come from York County, with five of them from Rock Hill.

Listed parties have been informed by the revenue department.
