11 York County businesses cited by SC for selling alcohol to minors, officials say

South Carolina and local law enforcement officers issued 11 citations to York County restaurants Tuesday for selling alcohol to minors under age 21, officials said.

The businesses received citations after people who are underage who were working with police and deputies bought alcohol, said B.J. Kennedy, commander of the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit.

One-hundred-twenty-four businesses were checked Tuesday, Kennedy said. It is against the law in South Carolina to sell alcohol to anyone under age 21, Kennedy said.

The citations, all misdemeanors, were issued in Rock Hill, York, and Fort Mill. The businesses cited, according to information released by law enforcement, are:

Blacow Burger, 1645 S.C. 160 West Fort Mill;

Sabor Latin Street Grill, 817 Crossroads Plaza, Fort Mill;

Carolina Ale House, 1342 Broadcloth St.,Fort Mill;

Brass Tap, 819 Terrace Park, Rock Hill;

Sonnys BBQ, 2781 Cherry Road, Rock Hill;

Delicacy Chinese Bistro, 1435 Riverchase Boulevard, Rock Hill;

Buffalo Wild Wings, 1460 Meeting Boulevard, Rock Hill;

Hoof & Barrel, 122 N .Congress St., York.

The check was part of checks done periodically by DEU officers, agents from the State Law Enforcement Division, York County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and Rock Hill Police Department officers. The check is done to try and curtail underage drinking, Kennedy said.

Starting in 2016, York County All on Board and Keystone Substance Abuse Services partnered in anti-underage alcohol activities with several York County businesses.

On Feb. 12, a York County woman was sentenced to two years in prison for buying alcohol for minors in an incident where a York teen, died.
