Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article had an incorrect age and spelling of the decedent’s last name. The York County Coroner has since corrected the information.

A motorcycle driver from Clover was killed in York County over the weekend in a collision with an SUV, troopers said.

Brian Masterton, 28, of Clover, died in the crash, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.

The crash happened Saturday northwest of Clover on Galway Lane, said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The incident site is west of U.S. 321 near the state line with Gaston County, North Carolina.

The SUV was backing into a private driveway near Bowling Green when it was struck by the motorcycle, Miller said.

Masterson was not wearing a helmet, Miller said.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt, Miller said.

No charges have been filed.

The wreck remains under investigation by the highway patrol, coroner’s office, and the Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team of the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
