York County chef to compete for Guy Fieri tonight in ‘Flavortown.’ How to watch.

Award-winning York County chef Amy Fortes will compete on the Guy Fieri show Guy’s Grocery Games on the Food Network.

The episode airs tonight at 9 p.m., according to network listings online. It will be shown again at midnight April 23 and 3 p.m. April 29.

Fortes is known locally for her work at The Flipside Restaurant, The Flipside Cafe and more recently, Salmeri’s Italian Kitchen.

Fieri’s show brings four chefs together to “Flavortown” for a three-round competition. The winner earns a $20,000 shopping spree. The episode airing tonight adds an additional challenge. It’s egg-themed, according to online information from the network, and “Guy Fieri isn’t a fan of eggs.”

Fortes has competition experience. Her Rock Hill and Fort Mill restaurants claimed several local and regional awards in recent years.

For 2017, Fortes was one of four chefs named South Carolina Chef Ambassadors. Those ambassadors participated in culinary and tourism events and demonstrations. In January, the newly formed YoCo Taste Trail tabbed 15 must-try dishes in York County to promote culinary tourism. The braised beef shortribs at Flipside made the cut.
