Someone in Rock Hill won the lottery, but $1 cost them a chance to be a millionaire

Someone in Rock Hill had the numbers 1, 21, 27, 28 and 36. Now that someone has a new number — $100,000.

Rock Hill had yet another six-figure lottery winner in Thursday’s Palmetto Cash 5 game. The drawing had those five numbers plus a power-up of 10. A ticket sold at Little Giant No. 2 at 1190 South Anderson Road hit all five numbers.

The Palmetto Cash 5 game comes with a $1 power-up option. Had the player bought that option, the power-up of 10 would’ve made the ticket good for $1 million.

The winner has 180 days to claim the prize. More information is available at sceducationlottery.com.

More than 5,100 tickets have won between $1 and the $100,000 top win. More than 3,600 of those winners have spent the extra $1 to have winnings multiplied by 10. The odds of a $100,000 win are 1 in 501,942.

Earlier this month three York County lottery wins hit for $300,000 each. One each came in Fort Mill, Rock Hill and Clover. One of those wins, on a ticket sold at Red Rocket Fireworks in Fort Mill, came in the Palmetto Cash 5 game where the winner bought the power-up to triple the winnings. Another Cash 5 game winner this summer in Clover was good for $100,000.
