Traffic alert: I-77 northbound crash in York County backs up commute to Charlotte

Traffic on northbound Interstate 77 in South Carolina toward Charlotte was backed during the Monday morning commute after a crash, officials said.

S.C. Highway Patrol troopers and York County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash before 8 a.m. near mile marker 88 near the Gold Hill Road Exit 88, deputies and troopers said.

Sheriff’s deputies sent out social media alerts about the traffic and crash.

A second incident on the northbound lanes was reported after 8 a.m., according to the highway patrol website.

Traffic on I-77 was backed up northbound about 2 miles from mile marker 87, S.C. Department of Transportation cameras showed.
