Heading to the mall? A popular Rock Hill shortcut won’t be available for a while
A popular shortcut to busy shopping areas of Rock Hill won’t be available for a while.
Mangum Road is closed for repaving. Mangum connects Red River Road to area stores such as Kohl’s, Walmart and Rock Hill Galleria mall. It’s popular among drivers who come from the Cherry Road corridor without using Interstate 77.
The road will remain closed until 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to York County. Dave Lyle Boulevard to Red River is the alternate route.
Recent area roadwork
The same area has seen road widening and repavement in recent years.
The 2017 Pennies for Progress cent sales tax referendum included more than $40 million to widen Cel-River and Red River roads from Eden Terrace to Dave Lyle Boulevard. It also included an extension of Galleria Boulevard.
Another $1.6 million went to intersection and traffic flow improvements where U.S. 21, Cherry and Celanese roads meet.
The referendum also included repaving a portion of Eden Terrace.
