Motorcycle driver killed after York County crash on SC 160 near Fort Mill

A motorcycle driver died after a crash with a car in York County Monday night, officials said.

The collision happened around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of S.C. 160 and Brayden Parkway between Fort Mill and Tega Cay, said Lance Cpl. Nick Pye of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The area is south of the North Carolina state line and east of Interstate 77 — near the entrance to residences and commercial buildings.

A Honda sedan heading south on Brayden Parkway collided with the motorcycle that was heading west on S.C. 160, Pye said. The sedan driver was not hurt, Pye said.

The name and town of residence for the motorcyclist has not been released by the York County Coroner’s Office.

The wreck remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and Highway Patrol.

The fatality in a highway crash is the 12th on York County roads in 2022, according to statistics from the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
