Rock Hill traffic alert: Winthrop graduation ceremony is set for Saturday. What to know.
Drivers along Eden Terrace in Rock Hill may face detours Saturday as hundreds of students and families will descend on the city for Winthrop University’s commencement.
The event, which starts at 11 a.m., will be supervised by Winthrop’s new President Edward Serna and will mark his first commencement at the Rock Hill university since he entered his role in July.
University officials said heavy traffic is expected on roads near the Winthrop Coliseum, where the university’s graduation ceremony will be held.
Signs will be posted near the Coliseum to encourage those not attending the event to take a different route.
Winthrop’s commencement speaker on Saturday will be Political Science Professor Adolphus Belk Jr., who was recognized in May as the university’s Distinguished Professor, the highest recognition for faculty members.
For those who cannot attend Saturday’s ceremony, they may view the live stream on YouTube.
