A child and his grandmother died Sunday in a Chester, SC house fire.

A 3-year-old boy and his grandmother died after a house fire in Chester on Sunday, coroner and sheriff officials said.

The fire on Walker Street in Chester killed Loretta Mills, 67, and Logan Givens, 3, said Terry Tinker, Chester County Coroner. Mills is the child’s grandmother, Tinker said.

Chester is located between Rock Hill and Columbia.

Autopsies are scheduled for Tuesday, Tinker said. The State Law Enforcement Division was notified because of the the fire deaths that include the death of a child, Tinker said. Chester County deputies assisted at the scene, said sheriff’s office spokesperson Londa Pringle.

King’s Funeral Home in Chester is handling arrangements for Mills and Givens. Arrangements have not been released.

No information on the cause of the fire has been released.

Efforts to reach fire department officials with the city of Chester were unsuccessful Monday.

On Jan. 8, a 9-month-old girl died after a house fire on Second Street in Chester, officials said.
