Carowinds’ newest ride offers something cool, even for folks who don’t ride it
Carowinds has a new water ride to help beat the heat, and park goers don’t have to board it to get wet.
Charlie Brown’s River Raft Blast is now open in Camp Snoopy. The raft ride for children and adults is right beside the family launch roller coaster that also opened this season, Snoopy’s Racing Railway. The theme park split by the state line also opened an adult swim-up bar this year in a separate part of the park.
River Raft Blast puts riders on a winding trip on pontoon-like boats equipped with eight water cannons, four on each side. Spots all along the route have water cannons aimed back toward the boats, so people in the park can battle boat riders. Each raft has a Peanuts character atop it, and the entire area has a Charlie Brown theme.
The 415-foot river channel through Snoopy’s swimming hole includes several splash zones.
The park aims to create a “world-renowned children’s area” at Carowinds, park manager and Vice President Brian Oerding said in announcing the new raft ride. Carowinds has now added eight rides to its children’s area since 2018.
Carowinds is a 400-acre amusement park in both Fort Mill and Charlotte. It has nearly 60 rides, attractions and stage shows. There’s a 26-acre water park and a hotel. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation owns Carowinds, one of its 27 amusement parks and 15 water parks across North America.
