SC police investigate after man dies, woman hurt in Lancaster house fire

South Carolina police are investigating after a man died and a woman was hurt in a weekend house fire in Lancaster County.

The fire happened around 7 a.m. Saturday at 1861 Overbrook Road.

A man inside was found dead, and a woman injured was flown by helicopter to a hospital with serious injuries, Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said.

The woman’s condition is unknown. Two other people were inside at the time but escaped from the burning house.

Officials have not identified the four people in the house, or released other details about the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division, which responds to all fire fatalities.
