York County Sheriff's Office

Emergency crews are involved in a rescue effort on Lake Wylie Thursday afternoon, officials said.

A person jumped off a boat and did not resurface in the area near Little Allison Creek, the York County Sheriff’s Office said. The area is on the lake’s western edge off S.C. 274, northwest of Rock Hill and southwest of Charlotte.

Spokesman Trent Faris told The Herald that crews remained on scene, but no other information was available around 3 p.m. The sheriff’s office has a dive team and lake patrol team.

The sheriff’s office posted the rescue efforts on its official social media pages, and asked people using the lake to stay clear of the area
