Beware of detours when Come-See-Me opens in Rock Hill on Thursday
Drivers will be looking for alternate routes to get around downtown Rock Hill once the city’s annual Come-See-Me festival kicks off Thursday.
Here’s a quick look at what’s ahead:
Thursday, April 14
The festival begins with a parade Thursday night that will snake around the downtown area. Oakland Avenue will close to traffic between Ebenezer Avenue and East White Street starting at 3 p.m., ahead of the start of the parade at 6:30 p.m.
The route will move down Oakland Avenue onto East White Street, then cross over to East Main Street beside the Wells Fargo building, then go back up Oakland Avenue to finish at the Agape Center.
Friday
The Chalk on Main event will close East Main Street between Dave Lyle Boulevard and Oakland Avenue, plus nearby portions of Hampton and Caldwell streets. Closure will be from 3 to 8 p.m.
East Black Street between Dave Lyle Boulevard and Hampton Street will close starting at 10 a.m. for the Beach Bash and reopen at midnight. The city’s East Black Street parking lot will not be accessible.
Saturday
A half marathon will begin at South Pointe High School at 7 a.m., closing portions of East Robertson Road, Ogden Road, S.C. 324, Bridgewater Road, Falls Road, Rawlsville Road, Squire Road and Blanche Circle. Roadways affected will have one-way traffic flowing against the runners, and detours posted. Normal traffic should resume by 11:30 a.m.
At 7:45 a.m., a 5K will leave from South Pointe High. East Robertson will be closed from the school entrance to Rambo Road, and portions of East Robertson Road, Rockwell Circle, Favorwood Drive and Eagle Bluff Court. Normal traffic should resume by 11:30 a.m.
Cherry Road and Eden Terrace will see increased traffic during Gourmet Gardens in Cherry Park, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Rock Hill Police Department will assist with traffic flow.
Sunday
Glencairn Garden hosts Sundaes with Mother Goose and Glen from 1 to 5 p.m. One-way traffic on Edgemont and Piedmont avenues will be from noon to 5:30 p.m., and on Crest Street from noon to 5 p.m.
Monday through Thursday, April 21
Crest Street, Edgemont Avenue and Piedmont Avenue will be one-way for motorists daily between 11:30 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Friday, April 22
Orange Street will be closed between East Black and Flint streets from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Smart Parents child seat program.
Saturday, April 23
East Black Street will be closed between the Black Street parking lot and Hampton Street between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the Steve Trash Eco Concert in City Hill Plaza.
East Main Street will be closed between Dave Lyle Boulevard and Caldwell Street between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the Family Promise Bed Race.
