Victims of violent crime remembered in York County
A candlelight vigil Tuesday evening in Rock Hill honored those who lost their lives to violent crime in York County.
The event, at the York County Coroner’s Office, coincided with South Carolina’s Victims Rights Week, and families, friends and community members were invited to attend and light a candle to remember violent crime victims in the York County area.
The coroner’s office CARE team – which stands for Connecting, Advocating and Responding with Empathy – was in attendance. The team was established in 2011 by Coroner Sabrina Gast and is made up of trained volunteers who respond with the coroner to assist families when they receive the news of a loved one’s death.
