Driver killed in crash when truck overturns in Lancaster County, troopers say

A person was killed Friday morning in Lancaster when a truck overturned, police said.

The crash involving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck happened around 4 a.m. on S.C. 522 east of downtown Lancaster, said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The truck went off the right side of the road, into a ditch and then overturned, Miller said.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck, Miller said.

No other vehicles were involved and there were no other passengers in the truck, officials said.

The driver died at the scene, according to police and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner has not yet released the identity of the driver.

The wreck, which happened near the North Carolina state line, remains under investigation by the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
