11 dogs seized by York County Animal Control after pit bulls bite man
York County Animal Control has seized 11 dogs after a man was bitten on the neck and arm by two of the animals, officials said.
The dogs, of various breeds, were removed from the property to the county animal shelter late Monday because the dogs needed additional medical care, said Bobbie Comer, supervisor of animal control.
York County Sheriff’s Office deputies and animal control officers found the dogs at a home on Cedar Grove Road west of York, according to sheriff’s office reports. Police had responded to assist EMS after a man suffered the bites from two pit bulls, the sheriff’s office report stated.
Deputies turned the scene over to animal control, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
The owner of the animals surrendered the dogs to animal control, Comer said.
No animals had to be euthanized, Comer said. All the animals remain at the shelter pending optimal placement, Comer said.
The owner of the animals received seven citations from animal control charging violations of York County pet ordinances, according to animal control officials. The charges included four counts of ill treatment of animals, one count of hoarding, one count of failure to have proof of rabies, and one count of interfering with animal control investigators.
