Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie will reopen soon after two-year renovation. What to know.

After a two-year renovation, York County’s Ebenezer Park will reopen next month.

The 26-acre park, which includes 60-plus campgrounds and a public beach on Lake Wylie, will open to the public on May 1. The 13,000-acre lake, which borders North and South Carolina, is a popular site for residents from both states.

The lakefront park near Rock Hill, first established in 1988, underwent $4.6 million in renovations, which included a larger swimming area, a semi-circle pier, volleyball and basketball area, beginning in November 2019.

York County reopened parts of the park and its boat ramps about six months ago.

The county will hold a reopening event on May 1 at the park, 4490 Boat Shore Rd., which will include live music and entertainment.

“York County is excited to celebrate with our community the newest amenities at Ebenezer Park,” York County Council Chairwoman Christi Cox said in a statement. “Ebenezer Park is a great example of how York County Council continues to make investments in parks to enhance our residents quality of life.”

What’s new?

The biggest addition York County residents can expect to see at the park is a 10,000-square-foot, semi-circle pier that extends onto the lake. The pier will include double-sided swings and picnic tables.

The swimming and beach area has been dredged and expanded. The county added a multipurpose building, which can be used for concerts, movies and special occasion rentals. The parking lot was redesigned to include a space for boat, kayak, canoe and paddleboard trailers.

The county also added more trails, a basketball court and beach volleyball space.

The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Until Memorial Day, parking is free. After that, a parking day pass will cost $5 per car for York County residents and $8 per car for non-residents. Season passes will be $30 for York County residents and $35 for non-residents.
