Truck driver killed in Lancaster County crash near Catawba River, trooper says

A driver died late Sunday in Lancaster County in a crash near the Catawba River, officials said.

The driver of a pickup truck went off Bethel Boat Landing Road and struck trees around 8:30 p.m., said Cpl. Joe Hovis of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The driver died at the scene, Hovis said.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the person who was killed in the collision.

The death is the 15th on Lancaster County roads in 2021, according to the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
