Rock Hill driver killed in Chester County wreck after hitting several trees, troopers say

A driver from York County was killed late Friday in a single-vehicle crash in Chester County, officials said.

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker identified the driver as 69-year-old Larry L. Finch, from Rock Hill.

The wreck happened around 9 p.m. on S.C. 97, said Master Trooper David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Finch, driving a 2018 Hyundai Finch, went off the road and hit several trees, Jones said. The driver died at the scene, Jones said.

The collision remains under investigation by the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office.

The fatality is the 14th on Chester County roads in 2021, according to public safety statistics.
