Man dies in Rock Hill after hit by train while on tracks, officials say

A man died late Tuesday after being struck by a train in Rock Hill, officials said.

The man was found after 11 p.m. He had been struck by the train while walking on tracks in southern Rock Hill near the intersection of Rambo Road and Vernsdale Road, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department. The area is near South Pointe High School.

The York County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the man who died.

County, city, and South Carolina law enforcement and emergency officials responded to the crash scene.

The fatality remains under investigation by the police department, coroner, and the Norfolk Southern railway.
