Someone bought a York County lottery ticket worth $100K. In 10 days, it’s worthless

A winning lottery ticket from Clover is still out there, and it’s worth $100,000. In two weeks, it won’t be.

The South Carolina Education Lottery released a notice Monday that only 10 days remain to claim a $100,000 winner in the Palmetto Cash 5 game from Aug. 28, 2021. Nichols Food Store on S.C. Highway 55 East in Clover sold a ticket for that game that matched all five numbers drawn.

The winning ticket has to be claimed at the Columbia Claims Center by 4 p.m. Feb. 24, or postmarked by that date if mailed, or the winner won’t be able to claim it. Winners have 180 days from the date of drawing to claim prizes.

If a winner doesn’t claim the prize, the money will be deposited into an account to support educational programs. The lottery provides scholarship money and other education funding through proceeds.

The winning ticket from the Aug. 28, 2021 game hit with numbers 4, 8, 9, 10 and 23. Players are encouraged to check their tickets.

The notice from the lottery came the same day as word of another $100,000 winner in the Palmetto Cash 5 game. An Indian Land ticket won the prize from Sunday night’s drawing.
