SC Motorcycle driver dies after collision with truck in Lancaster officials say

A motorcycle driver was killed Wednesday in South Carolina after a collision with a pickup truck in Lancaster County, officials said.

The motorcyclist who died at the scene has been identified as Paul Culp, 34, of Lancaster, said Karla Knight-Deese, Lancaster County Coroner.

The crash happened before 4 p.m. on Douglas Road near Sims Road, said Lance Cpl. Nick Pye of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The motorcycle driver died after the two vehicles collided, Pye said.

The driver of the truck was not injured, Pye said.

The wreck remains under investigation by the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office.

The highway death is the 12th in Lancaster County in 2022, public safety statics show. The fatal motorcycle crash is the 104th in South Carolina in 2022, public safety statistics show.
