It wasn’t the Powerball jackpot, but $1 million isn’t a bad consolation in Fort Mill

It wasn’t a world record win, but it’s still $1 million.

A ticket sold in Fort Mil for the more than $2 billion Powerball draw on Tuesday morning matched the first five white numbers to win $1 million. The ticket was sold at 7 Eleven on 3085 S.C. Highway 160 West. Two more tickets sold in South Carolina matched four of five numbers in the Powerball number series.

One of those tickets was sold in Fort Mill too. Lowes Travel Stop at 135 Sutton Ridge Lane sold that winner. Winning numbers Tuesday, for the drawing delayed from Monday night, were 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56 with Powerball 10.

Despite the big wins in Fort Mill, the drawing will be known for a win in California. A winner there matched every number. It’s the first time anyone has done that in three months. The $2.04 billion drawing shatters the previous record high at $1.6 billion.

According to the South Carolina Education Lottery, odds of winning $1 million are 1 in 11,688,054. Odds of winning $50,000 are 1 in 913,129.

The big win in California, and near misses in Fort Mill, come after three straight near misses in Rock Hill. In record drawings the past week, three tickets fell one number short of the jackpot.
