Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in hit-and-run in Lancaster, SC trooper says

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Lancaster County, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday night on Great Falls Highway near Lymon Reece Road, according to a statement released by Cpl. Tyler Tidwell of the highway patrol.

In the statement, Tidwell described the incident as a fatal hit and run.

An unknown vehicle that struck the pedestrian left the scene after the collision, Tidwell said.

Lancaster County Coroner Karla Knight-Deese said her office has not yet identified the pedestrian who died.

The fatal wreck remains under investigation by the highway patrol and the coroner.

Six people have died on Lancaster County roads in 2023, according to statistics from the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
