A Rock Hill man has died in the third motorcycle fatality in York County in eight days, officials said.

David Johnson, 31, died Sunday at the crash scene off Porter Road, according to Sabrina Gast, the York County Coroner.

The wreck happened before 3 a.m. near Barringer Road southeast of Interstate 77. The Harley-Davidson cycle went off the side of the road and hit trees, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A Fort Mill man died July 14 in a cycle crash off Dobys Bridge Road, and a York woman died after her motorcycle hit a tractor-trailer on July 12 on U.S. 321, according to police and coroner officials.

All three crashes remain under investigation by police and the coroner’s office.
