A York man pleaded guilty Thursday to using a Lowe’s WiFi connection to watch child pornography in the store’s parking lot.
Leroy Moore, 73, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree, according to a release from the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office. He was sentenced to six years in prison, receiving credit for 157 days served. He also must register a a sex offender.
On Dec. 1, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy was at Lowe’s in York when he saw a man parked in a handicapped space using a computer that appeared to be showing child pornography. The deputy entered the Lowe’s and alerted staff, who called the York Police Department.
When police asked Moore what he was doing, a report states, he told them, “Looking at some porn on the Internet.” Moore had two laptops in his possession and officers saw images of what appeared to be young boys engaged in sexual activity.

The computers were also downloading files from the internet through the free wi-fi Lowe’s provides.
At the time, two computers and two thumb drives were seized by York Police for forensic analysis by the AG’s office. An analysis of the computer equipment revealed 400 videos and 1,475 images of minors engaged in sexual activity or in a sexually explicit state, the release states.
