York man threatened to shoot people, burn house after stalking ex-girlfriend, police say

A York man pointed a gun at two people and threatened to shoot up and burn a home after stalking his ex-girlfriend, police said.

Michael Paul Ward, 36, is charged with first-degree domestic violence, two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm, and stalking, said Capt. Brian Trail of the York Police Department.

Ward threatened to shoot two family members of his former girlfriend after a dispute late Friday, Trail said.

Several York police officers responded to Charlotte Street after receiving reports of a man with a gun, according Trail and an incident report.

Ward’s former girlfriend told police Ward threatened to shoot up the house where she lived, as well as shoot others in the home, according to the report. Ward also threatened to burn the former girlfriend’s belongings in the house, police said.

Officers were able to find Ward after he fled the scene in a car, the report stated. Ward also is charged with assault on a police officer while resisting arrest, records show.

Ward is being held at the York County jail under a $110,000 bond.
