Man shot dead in Rock Hill’s Boyd Hill area. Murder probe underway, police say
A man was killed in Rock Hill late Friday after being shot, police said.
York County Coroner Sabrina Gast identified the man as 39-year-old Robert Lee Dockery Jr. of Rock Hill.
The victim was found dead in a yard in the 1100 block of Calhoun Street, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department. Autopsy and toxicology tests are pending., according to Gast.
Officers from the police department’s patrol division, forensics, criminal investigations and violent crimes units responded to the scene. Dockery was shot around 9 p.m. in the Boyd Hill neighborhood near the intersection of Cherry Road and Main Street west of downtown Rock Hill.
No arrest has been made, Chavis said.
The shooting is at least the seventh in Rock Hill and York County in December in unrelated incidents, police records show.
A York home was fired into on Christmas Day in a case where a woman was charged with attempted murder.
A man was shot Christmas Eve on Maple Street in a case that remains under investigation.
Two men from Rock Hill and Charlotte were shot in an altercation at a York County bar near Carowinds this month. A Rock Hill man now being held in jail without bond was arrested in that case.
A 42-year-old man was shot in Rock Hill in mid-December in a case where three juveniles were charged with attempted murder. The suspects were each 16 years old and remain in custody.
On Dec. 5, a man was shot in Rock Hill that caused a school lockdown and SWAT situation as police searched for a suspect. That case remains open.
On Dec. 2, a Rock Hill man was found shot to death on Archer Drive. A woman was charged with murder in that incident and is in jail without bond.
