A Rock Hill felon accused of waving a gun in the parking lot of a restaurant was found with drugs and a weapon, police said.
Melvin Lewis Rhinehart, 44, was arrested in the parking lot of Popeye’s chicken restaurant on Cherry Road after officers received reports Saturday of a man waving a gun in a vehicle, according to a Rock Hill Police Department incident report.
No one at the scene was hurt, police said.
Police found 45 ecstasy pills, cocaine, marijuana, a digital scale, Viagra and a .38-caliber handgun in Rhinehart’s vehicle, according to the report.
He was charged with five drug charges and three weapons charges, including possession of a gun by a convicted felon, jail and police records show.
Rhinehart is a convicted felon and banned by state and federal law from possessing a gun or ammunition.
Rhinehart has past convictions for weapons and three drug convictions that included stretches in South Carolina prisons, court records show. His most recent conviction was for distribution of cocaine in 2017, court records show.
