Cheerleading coach at Rock Hill school suspended after DUI arrest, officials say

The head cheerleading coach at a York County high school has been suspended from working with the team after being arrested and charged with DUI, officials said.

Brandi Nicole Dabney, 33, of Rock Hill, was charged Friday morning with DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of .16 or higher, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The legal limit for operating a vehicle under South Carolina law is a blood alcohol concentration of .08, according to the S.C. Department of Public Safety.

Dabney was booked into the York County jail Friday then later released on $2,262 bond, according to jail officials.

Dabney was suspended from her role as head coach of the cheerleading team at Rock Hill High School after school officials learned of her arrest, said Mychal Frost, spokesman for the Rock Hill school district.

Dabney is a coach who is not a full-time employee or teacher with the school district, Frost said.

Dabney is a math teacher at Community House Middle School in Charlotte, according to a written statement from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. CMS officials did not release any other information concerning Dabney’s employment.
