Man shot in Chester; suspects sought as investigation continues, police chief says

A man was shot late Monday in Chester, police said.

The shooting happened on Lynwood Avenue, said Eric Williams, Chester Police Department chief.

The victim, a male, was shot in the arm, Williams said. The victim was hospitalized and is in stable condition, Williams said.

“Any time there is a shooting in Chester we take it very seriously and investigate it with all our resources,” Williams said. “Fortunately at this time we do not have a homicide.”

After the shooting, which happened around 10 p.m., Chester officers set up a perimeter to seek at least two suspects, Williams said. Chester County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with a K-9 dog team from the sheriff’s office, assisted in an attempt to track the suspects, Williams said.

Police did not locate the suspects, Williams said. No arrests have been made.

No information about the circumstances of the shooting have been released.
