Half pound of meth, guns seized; 2 Lancaster teens charged with drug trafficking

A pair of teens from Lancaster are charged with drug trafficking after a half pound of meth and two guns were found in their apartment, deputies said.

Tymarious Nydarious Thompson, 19, and Tykeria Lashay Wright, 19, were arrested Friday by Lancaster County Sheriff’s office deputies and Department of Homeland Security federal agents, said Barry Faile, Lancaster County Sheriff.

Thompson and Wright are also charged with felony child neglect after an infant also was found in the apartment, Faile said.

The apartment was off West Meeting Street in the Woodcreek Apartments, Faile said.

Officers found the meth, a half ounce of crack cocaine, more than $4,000 in cash, and the guns, Faile said.

Thompson was free on bail at the time of the arrest for five weapons and drug arrests from 2017 and 2019, South Carolina court records show. Those charges remain pending.

Methamphetamine is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant also called ice, crank and crystal, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

Trafficking meth for the amount seized carries a sentence of 25 years for a conviction, South Carolina law shows.

Thompson and Wright were denied bail and remain in the Lancaster County jail.
