Man shot in car outside apartment complex in Rock Hill; shooter sought, police say

A Rock Hill man was shot while in his car late Monday at an apartment complex, police said.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Oak Hollow Apartments on South York Street around 8 p.m., said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.

Officers found the man in his car on York Street where the car hit a utility pole and a fence after the driver had been shot, Chavis said.

“He had left the lot and hit the pole when we located him,” Chavis said.

The victim was sent to Piedmont Medical Center hospital for treatment, Chavis said. His condition was unclear.

The identity of the victim, who is 21 years old, has not been released.

Detectives, forensic and crime scene officers, and medical workers responded to the scene. Officers found several shell casings from bullets in the parking lot of the apartments, Chavis said.

No other injuries were reported.
