Some York County residents complained. Now a man faces gun, drugs charges

A York County man has been arrested on drug trafficking and weapons charges after police seized more than 50 grams of cocaine and several weapons Thursday near Interstate 77, officers said.

Sean Keith Brady, 23, is being held on charges of trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm during a violent crime, said B.J. Kennedy, commander of the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit.

Police had been investigating after officers received several complaints about drug activity in the Bailiwick neighborhood near I-77, off Pleasant Road, Kennedy said. The neighborhood is west of the town of Fort Mill.

Around 7 p.m. Thursday, agents with the drug unit and deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office found 11 grams of cocaine and two handguns during a traffic stop on Brady’s truck near I-77, Kennedy said.

Officers then searched Brady’s home on Wessex Way off Pleasant Road, Kennedy said. In the home, police found 41 grams of cocaine, a mixture of liquid codeine narcotics, and several more guns, Kennedy said.

Trafficking cocaine between 28 grams and 100 grams carries a minimum sentence of seven years up to 25 years in prison, under South Carolina law.

Brady is being held at the York County Detention Center, according to police and jail records.
