Rock Hill SWAT raid nets 5 arrests in drugs, weapons case

Police arrested four adults and a juvenile on drug charges Wednesday after a SWAT team search at an apartment complex in Rock Hill, officials said.

The York County Mutijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit, along with Rock Hill Police Department SWAT and violent crimes unit, were involved in the investigation and arrests west of Interstate 77 off Celanese Road, said B.J. Kennedy, commander of the drug unit.

In the search, officers seized about 390 grams of marijuana, around nine grams of fentanyl, Ecstasy, and more than five grams of THC, Kennedy said.

Police also seized an AK-47 rifle, a handgun and more than $5,000 in cash, Kennedy said.

The adults charged, according to police and jail records, were: Corey Jermaine Troupe, 22; Nykem Mylik White, 19; Marcel Ernest-Antione Samedi, 20; and Jaron Nichols Morrison, 20.

All four remained in the York County jail Thursday after an initial court appearance.

Troupe is charged with two counts of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, jail records show.

Records show Samedi is charged with four counts of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, and one count of possession of drugs with intent to distribute near a park or school.

White is charged with two counts of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, and one count of drug possession, according to jail records. White is on probation for a drug conviction in February and was free on bail after a drug and weapons related arrest in April, South Carolina court records show.

Morrison is charged with two counts of possession of drugs with intent to distribute, records show. Morrison has a previous drug conviction from 2019 and was free on bail after drug and weapons related arrests in February and April, court records show.

A juvenile charged with drug offenses was released to family and will be prosecuted in Family Court, officials said.

Pharmaceutical fentanyl is a synthetic opioid pain reliever that is 50-100 times more potent than morphine, according to the Centers for Disease Control website.

THC is a chemical found in marijuana, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Ecstasy “is a synthetic drug that alters mood and awareness of surrounding objects and conditions. It is chemically similar to both stimulants and hallucinogens, producing feelings of increased energy, pleasure, emotional warmth, and distorted sensory and time perception,” accordung to the drug institute.
