Body found in Chester County near York County line, police said

A death investigation is underway in Chester County after a body was found south of the York County line, officials said.

The body was found around 9 a.m. near the Lowrys community in northwestern Chester County near the intersection of How and Cameron roads, according to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office. The area is just east of U.S. 321, south of the town of McConnells in York County.

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker said it’s unclear if the deceased is man or woman, and officials are unsure how long the remains had been there.

Deputies from Chester County, York County, State Law Enforcement Division agents, and the coroner’s office were at the scene Wednesday morning. SLED forensic and other specialty units are assisting, officials said.

Officials have not released who found the body.

Roads around the scene have been closed and traffic detoured as police and forensic units search for evidence, officials said.

This is a developing story.
