Man killed in Chester County home invasion, sheriff and coroner say
A man was found dead Saturday morning after a home invasion in Chester County, police and coroner officials said.
The Chester County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death as a homicide, said Grant Suskin, spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
The incident happened in a home on Curry Road near Edgemoor, south of the York County line, Suskin said in a statement to The Herald. Signs of a home invasion were present when deputies responded around 2:20 a.m., Suskin said. The man was found dead inside the house, Suskin said.
No arrests have been made, but the sheriff’s office does not believe there is any danger to the community or public, Suskin stated. The area is rural and is located between Interstate 77 and the Catawba River.
South Carolina police agents from the State Law Enforcement Division are assisting in the investigation, officials said.
Terry Tinker, the Chester County coroner, said the victim of the homicide is male. His name and age have not been released.
Officials also declined to release details of how the man was killed. No arrests have been made, officials said.
The death investigation in Chester County is the second this week. On Wednesday, a woman’s body was discovered in a rural area in northwestern Chester County near the Lowrys community, according to SLED, sheriff’s and coroner officials.
