Police seek man out on bond for other crimes in Lancaster shooting death
A man out free on bail for other arrests is wanted for the shooting death of a Lancaster man, according to police and court records.
Police have arrests warrants against Demario Lamar Mingo for murder and possession of a violent crime in the death of Garfield Antonio “Tony” McGriff on Saturday, said Scott Grant, Lancaster Police Department chief.
Mingo, 40, is accused of shooting McGriff, 49, in the driveway of a home on Dixon Road in Lancaster, Grant said.
Lancaster police said in a written statement Mingo, whose last known residence was Robinson Street in Lancaster, should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
Anyone with information concerning Mingo is asked to call the Lancaster Police Department at 803-283-1171, or by calling or texting the police anonymous tip line at 803-289-6040.
The State Law Enforcement Division is involved in the investigation, officials said.
Mingo was arrested in 2017 and 2018 on several charges that include armed robbery, burglary, assault and battery, drugs and weapons charges, state online court records show. Mingo has been out on bail from those arrests since 2018.
Saturday’s shooting death was one of two in Lancaster over the weekend and among several shooting incidents in July, according to police and coroner officials. A teen was shot and killed Sunday in an unrelated case, police said.
