A suspect pepper sprayed a clerk at a Rock Hill title loan business before committing robbery Thursday night, police said.

The robbery happened around 6 p.m. at the Title Max store on Albright Road east of downtown, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.

The suspect went into the business and asked to use the phone, Chavis said. The suspect then claimed to have a gun and demanded money from the employee, Chavis said. The suspect used pepper spray on the clerk and told the victim to get on the floor before fleeing.

The clerk was treated for pepper spray but had no other injuries, Chavis said.

There is video of the incident, Chavis said. The suspect is a male who was wearing a red sweatshirt, dark pants and a white mask, police said.

Patrol units, forensics, K-9, and detectives responded to the business. No arrests have been made.
