Man found dead along Lake Wylie in SC had been shot, York County deputies say

A death investigation is ongoing on the South Carolina side of Lake Wylie after the body of a man who had been shot was found, York County deputies said.

The body was found Monday close to Astor Court near the lake, north of S.C. 49, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was found on the South Carolina side of the lake. Lake Wylie straddles the state line that separates South Carolina from North Carolina and Charlotte.

Deputies confirmed the man had been shot several times, according to Faris and sheriff’s office documents.

Sheriff’s office detectives, forensics, and dive team crews responded to the area Monday and remained at the site Tuesday.

The York County Coroner’s Office also responded to the site. Coroner officials have not yet released the identity of the victim.

No arrests have been made. No other information about the investigation has been released.
