One of two escaped prison inmates from York County was caught late Friday in Charlotte, but the second is still on the run after five days of running from the law.

And the second suspect, Bobby Albert Camp III, 25, has had several problems with police before, including not showing up for court and convictions for violent and drug crimes and allegations of feuds in Rock Hill that involved at least two alleged shooting incidents.

“Camp escaped and should be considered dangerous,” said Trent Faris, a spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office. “He’s on the run. If anyone sees him, call 911 immediatley. Don’t try and approach him. Let the police handle it.”

Both Camp and Richard Keith Poe escaped from the minimum security Catawba pre-release center south of Rock Hill where inmates are sent for work release, officials said.

Poe, 47, of Hickory Grove, who is in prison for burglary, was captured by Charlotte-Mecklenburg officers and South Carolina’s fugitive apprehension team and booked into jail just before midnight, according the S.C. Department of Corrections. Poe is being held without bond in Charlotte.

Poe walked away from the Catawba prison Friday, after Camp, 25, serving a seven year prison sentence for robbery, left his work-release job at a tire repair shop Tuesday. Camp has not been caught despite police and SWAT teams surrounding a home late Thursday in Rock Hill where officers thought he might be hiding and police in both Carolinas searching for him.

Online court records show that Camp pleaded guilty in September of last year in criminal court in York to common law robbery and other drug charges. But before pleading guilty, Camp had been charged with allegedly firing shots at a man as part of a feud, allegedly robbing a pizza delivery man, and more when he faced 22 total charges.
