York County man sentenced after jury convicts him of sex crimes involving child

A York County man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of 15 sex crimes, according to court records and prosecutors.

Matthew Joseph Hogan, 44, was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge William McKinnon after Hogan was convicted during a trial last week in criminal court at the Moss Justice Center in York.

The convictions include 12 counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, and another charge, according to court records and prosecutors..

There was one victim in the case, according to prosecutors Jessica Russo and Erin Joyner of the 16th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Hogan had been in jail since 2020 pending trial since his arrest after the victim reported allegations to police, according to prosecutors and jail records.

Prosecutors Russo and Joyner said after the trial they introduced DNA evidence that was consistent with Hogan’s DNA.
