A South Carolina woman has been arrested five days after a York County bicyclist died in a hit and run Sunday morning, officials said.

Kailey Carpenter, 25, is charged with leaving the scene of a collision involving death, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the S.C. Highway Patrol. She remained in the York County jail on the hit and run with death charge Friday after she was booked Friday morning, said Trent Faris, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, which runs the jail.

Anthony Raheem Parker, 31, of Clover, died at the scene on S.C. 55 west of Lake Wylie. Parker, who went by Raheem, was the father of a 3-year-old daughter, according to Facebook postings and a GoFundMe page set up to pay for funeral arrangements and other expenses.

Troopers said after the crash the driver of the vehicle that struck Parker did not stop. Police put out a plea to the public for information about the vehicle and driver through the media and social media before Carpenter was arrested Friday morning.

According to York County court and jail records, a judge set Carpenter’s bail at $75,000 at her first first court appearance Friday afternoon.

The charge is a felony that carries one to 25 years for a conviction, South Carolina law shows.
