SC teen arrested on murder charge after fatal shooting in Lancaster, sheriff says

A South Carolina teenager faces murder and gun charges after a Lancaster County man died in a fatal shooting, officials said.

Deputies arrested Ramon Omar Pyatt, 17, of Lancaster, on Sunday in the death of Daquindrick Blackmon, 29, according to a sheriff’s office statement and jail records. Blackmon died at a North Carolina hospital after he was airlifted by helicopter.

Blackmon was shot outside his home on Springdale Road before 3 a.m. Sunday morning, sheriff’s spokesman Doug Barfield said. The area is east of Rock Hill and south of Charlotte.

Deputies found Pyatt at his home about a mile away on 8th Street in Lancaster and charged him with the killing and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to Barfield.

The investigation showed Blackmon and Pyatt appeared to know each other, but the motive for the shooting remains unclear, Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said.

Pyatt is charged as an adult and remains in custody without bail at the Lancaster County jail.
